Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine & Chi Center hosts a year-round schedule of daylong retreats/workshops and weekly classes.
For information about specific programs please refer to the links on our website http://santacruzchicenter.com/chicenter/workshop-events.html. If you would like to browse through our calendar of up-coming events, you can click on the Workshop tab at the top of the page.
In consideration of all participants, please do not wear scented personal care products to Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine & Chi Center (including "natural" products).
Workshop Registration
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for workshops. Many of our workshops are handled directly with the workshop presenter, look on the website for the registration number. For workshops hosted by Santa Cruz Chi Center you can register online or call our reception desk to register for some workshops. We accept personal checks, credit cards (Visa or Mastercard), or cash. Some workshops offer Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Please inquire with our CEU manager, Larry Bernstein at 831-476-2115.
If you have registered, we will notify you if a program is canceled.
Registration for workshops are also taken by mail, though we prefer over the phone or on the web. Send a check--made payable to SCIMCC - to Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine & Chi Center, 21511 B East Cliff Drive, Santa Cruz, CA 95062, include the name of the daylong you are registering for on your check and on the outside of your envelope. Please include your daytime telephone number, and email address. Upon receipt of payment, we will send you a confirmation card or an email containing all the details of the event for which you registered.

Cancellation and Late Arrival Policy

to cancel. If you call or email by 5 pm at least two business days (48 hours) preceding the start of the event, we will credit your registration fee 75%. If you contact us within 48 business hours of the event you will receive a 50% refund. If we receive no cancellation call prior to the event you will receive no refund.
If you arrive late to a workshop or need to leave unexpectedly there will be no refund for the portion that was missed.
What to Bring

Please bring your own lunch or plan on buying lunch at one of the restaurants in the area. There is hot water, tea and a microwave available in the Santa Cruz Chi Center. We do not have a refrigerator for public use. We also often have snacks during workshops, however this is offered on a workshop by workshop basis.

Please bring your own mug or cup for tea and water. Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine & Chi Center stocks paper goods, however as an eco-conscious business we want to encourage non-disposable goods. We appreciate your help keeping our expenses down as we work to reduce our impact on the planet.

Chairs and some cushions are available; if you have special needs for seating please bring what you need or contact the front desk to find out if we can accommodate your needs.

You will be asked to remove your shoes prior to entering the Center; you may wish to wear or bring warm socks.

Please wear layered clothing as the Center temperature can vary from cool to warm.

In consideration of all participants, please do not wear scented personal care products to Santa Cruz Integrative Medicine & Chi Center. This includes "natural" products and even scented laundry soaps. For a helpful website with more information on the effects of scents on others, please check out nofrangrance.org.

Class Fees
Class Prices:
$15 Drop–In, $14 Student & Seniors
$130 for a 10 class pack, $120 for Students & Senior
$360 for a 30 class pack, $330 for Students & Senior
Prices will rise in Fall 2011 and we are moving to a membership based student system in 2012.
| Payment is made at the time of your visit. We accept personal checks, debit cards, credit cards (Visa or Mastercard), or cash. At the end of each visit, we will provide you with a “superbill” charge sheet to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. If your insurance provides coverage for acupuncture, chiropractic, naturopathic medicine or massage but requires a physician referral, Dr. Abrams would be happy to do a brief assessment (a 30 minute visit) and refer you to other providers as is appropriate. |
INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE
Dr. Rachel Carlton Abrams, MD
Dr. Abrams is currently a “non-preferred” provider for Blue Shield, Healthnet PPO, Pacificare PPO, United Healthcare, Aetna, First Health/CCN and Blue Cross. Dr. Abrams does not bill Medicare, but does offer a substantial discount to patients 65 and over in lieu of dealing with the difficulties of the Medicare billing system. She does not contract with HMO’s or accept MediCal. Dr. Abrams aslo offers discounted prices for children ages 12 and under.

NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE

Insurance companies in California do not generally reimburse for naturopathic services at this time. We do encourage you to still submit a "superbill" (given to you at the end of your visit) as we expect this to change over time.
IF YOU ARE A PATIENT OF DR. ABRAMS, your visits with Dr Shunney can be submitted to insurance as a visit with Dr. Abrams. This will allow those patients with medical insurance (other than Medicare, Medi-cal or HMO's) to get the same reimbursement rates for Dr. Shunney as they would with any non-preferred provider.
IF YOU ARE NOT A PATIENT OF DR. ABRAMS, your visits with Dr. Shunney are less likely to be covered by insurance. To take advantage of non-preferred provider reimbursement rates, Dr. Abrams is offering a special new patient visit rate of $125 to Dr. Shunney's patients.
